Conan Gray has quickly become one of the most relatable voices in pop music, and it’s kind of crazy look back at how far he’s come in such a short time. Born in 1998 and raised in small-town Texas, Conan first found an audience through YouTube, where he uploaded vlogs, art, and covers as a teenager. His charm and an art for storytelling caught on fast — it wasn’t long before he started posting original songs that really hit home for a lot of people.
His big break came with the self-released single “Idle Town” in 2017. It was dreamy, nostalgic, and felt like the musical version of a coming-of-age indie film — people loved it. That song alone earned him an insane following and eventually led to a record deal with Republic Records. From there, things took off. His debut EP "Sunset Season" dropped in 2018 and cemented his style: raw lyrics, soft beats, and that instantly recognizable voice.
By 2020, Conan dropped his first full-length album, "Kid Krow", which included breakout tracks like “Maniac” and the viral heartbreaker “Heather.” “Heather,” in particular, became a massive cultural moment. The song’s raw vulnerability about unrequited love and envy over someone else being loved instead, it just hit people in the feels. It also took off on TikTok, further launching him into the mainstream charts.
Beyond the music, Conan’s known for being openly emotional, refreshingly honest, and completely himself, which makes him super easy to connect with. He doesn’t shy away from topics like heartbreak, and growing pains, stuff everyone deals with but few talk about so openly in pop music.
More recently, his follow-up album Superache dropped in 2022 and continued the theme of honesty, with some amazing hits like “Yours” and “People Watching.” Each hit feels like a page out of his diary, and that uniqueness leaves fans wanting more time and time again.
Conan Gray went from bedroom YouTube covers to sold-out world tours, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Whether you’re crying in your car or dancing in your room, there’s probably a Conan Gray song for that, so, go and hit that buy tickets now button and get ready for one of the best concerts of your life.
